We absolutely love Christmas at HRock Church! There’s so much to be thankful for, to celebrate, and so many opportunities to rejoice. As December comes to an end, we’re taking a moment to reflect on what we love the most about this time of year – starting, of course, with the reason for our celebration, the joyfully anticipated birth of our Lord and Savior!
1. The Birth of our King
And the angel said to them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. (Luke 2:10-11)
The Christmas season is a time set apart to joyfully anticipate the birthday of our Lord and Savior. His miraculous conception shows us His divinity. His long-waited arrival on the earth fulfilled a promise of God’s faithfulness to His people. And His birth in a manger reminds of His perfect humility, demonstrated to us in fullness on the cross, 33 years later. The coming of Jesus means salvation, peace, and perfect love – reason enough to rejoice all month long.
2. Spirit of Generosity
In December, we often buy gifts for our friends and our families, and we may even give to those who we don’t know, but who are in need. Even in the world, there is a spirit of generosity during the season of Christmas. It’s a time to be blessed out of abundant generosity. There are plenty of opportunities to give, such as to the men, women, and children affected by the Syria in crisis.
3. Christmas Music
They shall pour forth the fame of your abundant goodness and shall sing aloud of your righteousness. (Psalm 145:7)
As soon as December 1st hits, we’re playing all of our favorite Christmas music. Year after year, these songs don’t get old – they remind us again and again of the joy of celebrating the coming of our Messiah. Sing, dance, and worship our King who came incarnate to the earth to deliver us from sin. Rejoicing makes a way for us to fellowship with our heavenly Father, and to cultivate the fruits of the Spirit, including love, joy, and peace.

4. Time with Family & Friends
Christmas is a beautiful time set apart to be with our loved ones. God created us for relationship with Him, and with one another. It’s also an opportunity to show the love of Christ to those who don’t know Him as their Savior. Let’s pray for our family and friends to encounter the perfect love of their Maker and His perfect Son.
5. Christmas Cheer!!
We love the spirit of celebration during the season of Christmas. Cookies, carols, ugly sweaters: we never get tired of the annual traditions that mark a month of joyful festivities!
We hope you have a beautiful, peace-filled, and restful Christmas. We pray you would experience God’s presence and receive even greater revelation of Jesus today, as we set time apart to celebrate His birth. We are so thankful that you are a part of our HRock Church family!
