It should be the natural progression of a transformed life to want to help others, especially in the area of our personal conquest and breakthrough. We offer an unsinkable hope because we stand as God’s testimony to the power of redeeming love. We are the living testimony that what God promised is true. Those who are living in the promises of God cannot fully rest until the whole family has received their promises.
To the Reubenites and to the Gadites and to the half-tribe of Manasseh, Joshua said, “Remember the word which Moses the servant of the LORD commanded you, saying, ‘The LORD your God gives you rest and will give you this land.’…but you shall cross before your brothers in battle array, all your valiant warriors, and shall help them, until the LORD gives your brothers rest, as He gives you, and they also possess the land which the LORD your God is giving them.” – Joshua 1:12-15
Israel crossed the Jordan into Canaan and toward Jericho. This was not their first battle, but it was the fight to manifest and receive all that was promised. Some tribes were given their inheritance East of the Jordan. They had already attained their rest, but they were to lend their strength in order for the whole nation to enter God’s promises.
This is a powerful tool in building a healing community. Hope is imparted to the struggling from those who’ve already won the fight in their own lives. One cannot conquer without the breakthroughs of the other. We cannot rest until all our brothers and sisters receive their healing as well.
And all these, having gained approval through their faith, did not receive what was promised, because God had provided something better for us, so that apart from us they would not be made perfect.” – Hebrews 11:39-40
Had the Rubenites and the Gadites not come to the aid of their nation, they too would have become vulnerable to the forces not yet subdued across the Jordan. They went first motivated by the victories already won, and by a desire to fully receive the promises of God. There are some things that can only be obtained through unity.
“When the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in one place. And suddenly there came from heaven a noise like a violent rushing wind…” – Acts 2: 1-2
We cannot make it through to all that God has for us without community. Each has a part to play. The disempowered must fight to take their land. But, those who have already conquered must reach out to lend a hand.
For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.” – Revelation 19:10
The triumph of one becomes the testimony of Christ to strengthen another. In other words, your victory is someone else’s prophetic word. Together we will receive something greater.
