This was the Lord’s doing;

It is marvelous in our eyes.

This is the day the Lord has made;

We will rejoice and be glad in it.

Psalm 118:23-24

In just one week, I will be gathering with apostolic leaders, pastors, teachers, and other movers and shakers in worldwide missions and ministry for the Global Summit conference for Harvest International Ministry (HIM), right here in Pasadena, CA. As I look forward to joining these powerful leaders- many of them close friends-  I am taking some time to reflect on the countless testimonies of God’s goodness and miraculous power throughout the two decades of history of HIM.   I have seen God move powerfully in the lives of widows, children, and missionaries in  remote villages as well as in the ministries of apostles in urban cities. He has been faithful to reach the nations as we have been faithful to commit to fulfilling the Great Commission.

turning points

In 20 years of leading HIM there have been numerous highlights, miracles, testimonies, and breakthroughs. However, there have been several significant turning points in our journey. One such highlight for me was how HIM was a major catalyst for The Call. All the state directors and city coordinators for The Call were HIM Pastors, so for me to be involved in the genesis of The Call in 2000 to 2003 was a tremendous blessing. A second turning point was establishing a HIM apostolic center in Korea, as well as WLI Korea. I never thought I would go back to Korea- although I am Korean and I was born there, I don’t speak the language. Korea already has so many strong churches, so it just wasn’t on my radar to grow there, but to see what God has done in Korea is amazing! Now I visit every year; and it is fulfilling for me to be able to give back to the nation that sent my mom, dad and me to America. Another significant cornerstone moment for me was launching WLI China. This of course goes back to when I was 20 years old and the Lord first spoke to me about going to the nations in a vision where China and India were twice the size of the other countries. Likewise, seeing what Leanna Cinquanta has done in India is amazing; her ability to multiply and establish a Kingdom presence in India has so far exceeded any of my expectations.

Through all that we have accomplished, the reason why growing HIM and seeing its presence in over 65 nations has been so personally satisfying to me is because I know that I am called as an apostle to carry out the Great Commission. Apostles are called to lead the way of fulfilling the Great Commission, which is our charge as empowered believers to disciple nations and bring revival and reformation for the purpose of transforming those nations. I feel that HIM has given me the vehicle and expression to have the freedom to do that, all over the world, without a mission board or any religious spirit to confine.

Looking Ahead

Looking forward, I would like to see HIM have a major apostolic center in every world class city, and to have those apostolic centers be planting churches so that we could really begin to see ministry being given away. This is how we can fulfill the call of establishing the Kingdom in every major nation, geo-political nation, and people group and do our part to reach the lost.

When it comes to the Great Commission 20 years from now, I say it’s never ending- there’s so much more that can still be done. We are going to do the best we can to fulfill the Great Commission until Jesus Christ comes back.

answer the call

One key to staying on the cutting edge of the Great Commission is continuing to learn from brothers and sisters in Christ who are fulfilling their calling to change the world. I invite you to join us in person or online  for the Global Summit Conference from August 3rd-7th as we come together to be inspired and equipped to impact our nation and the nations of the world. It will be a powerful time of learning from leaders such as Bill JohnsonShawn Bolz, Patricia King, Cindy Jacobs, James Goll, Charles StockJohn Arnott, Rabbi Jason Sobel. After 20 years of HIM, many of these people are more than just partners in ministry- I count them as dear friends and family. I have walked in close friendship with many of these speakers and I look forward to fellowshipping and dialoguing on how the body of Christ can rise up and advance the Kingdom today.
