Our God is good! All the time!

The goodness of God is central to His character, and God manifests His goodness to us in many different ways. The ultimate display of His goodness was by coming to Earth as the man Jesus Christ.

When the shepherds tending their flocks first heard the news of Christ’s birth, the angel declared to them,

Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will be to all people.” – Luke 2:10

This is a message intended for all the nations of the earth: Christmas is a season to celebrate God’s goodness!

Another main way God shows us His goodness is through supernatural healing. The Bible says in Acts 10:38

how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.”

All of Scripture resounds with the truth that God is a good and compassionate Father who wants to bring healing to His children (see Mark 1:40-42).

This past Thanksgiving Day service at HRock Church, a woman testified of how God healed her from glaucoma. The doctor verified the healing and then said that he must have misdiagnosed it the first time. What was the reason for this miracle? The goodness of God.

Good News for the Poor

In Luke 4, Jesus fulfilled the prophecy from Isaiah when he said,

The Spirit of the LORD is upon me, for he has anointed me to bring Good News to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim that captives will be released, that the blind will see, that the oppressed will be set free, and that the time of the LORD’s favor has come.” – Luke 4:18-19 (NLT)

What is “good news” to a poor person? That you don’t have to be poor anymore!

Christianity Today stated that 400 million Indians are going from abject poverty to the middle class because the economy is improving. But why is the economy improving? I believe it is because of the impact of revival and the spread of Christianity. This is good news!
