Last week, we gathered in Pasadena, California for one of my favorite events of the year—the Prophetic Destiny Conference. Every January, we come together with prophetic voices in the Body, teachers of the Word, and other influencers in the Church. We set aside four days to seek God on a directive word for the new year, encounter His refreshing presence, and align ourselves with the Spirit of God so that we can enter the next season with faith, power, and hope. This year, there was an exceptional spirit of camaraderie, joy, and anticipation among both the conference attendees and the speakers, as we gathered together to give our “yes” to God: in what He is doing in us as individuals, and corporately as the Body of Christ.

I am filled with expectation and anticipation for this coming year, and I believe this year’s Prophetic Destiny Conference served as a catalyst for many to step into new hopes and dreams and newfound authority as influencers and leaders for the Kingdom of God. Here, a few highlights and recurring themes from the conference:

2017: The Year of Breakthrough

“The voice of the Lord creates breakthrough, but a key is the word in you.”- James Goll

One recurring theme for the new year was breakthrough, and I felt the sense of hopefulness and gratitude as we heard the word of the Lord together, worshipped Him, and considered the areas of our lives where we are believing for transformation. It was so encouraging and inspiring to hear the word of the Lord confirmed again and again through different speakers, including James Goll, Stacey Campbell, and Brian Simmons. James Goll exhorted us to continue declaring the word of God, as we anticipate His presence, His miracles, and His Kingdom to influence culture and society. He spoke about the grace to fulfill what is still unfinished in our lives, that 2017 is the year 5777 on the Hebrew calendar, representing completion.

“Many will find that unfulfilled promises are going to come to pass this year.”- Stacey Campbell

2016 may have been a challenging year for some of you, but I want to encourage you that “joy comes in the morning.” (Psalm 30:5) Stacey Campbell spoke on the testing that comes before a great shift, and taught on the significance of the number 17, which represents overcoming the enemy and complete victory. I believe God wants to give us breakthrough both in personal circumstances, and breakthrough in fulfilling our destinies. Align yourself with His word and expect His goodness, His blessings, and His miraculous power to change your life!

Transforming Your City and Discipling the Nations

“Your destiny is in your people.”- Kris Vallotton
“Our encounters are meant to change our land.”- Kris Vallotton

Kris Vallotton taught on the power of belonging, and how that connects with our larger purpose as ambassadors of the Kingdom. We are all fundamentally wired for human connection, but it takes certain qualities, such as loyalty, sacrifice, honesty, and perseverance to be in covenantal community with one another. From a place of truly belonging to a people, we are emboldened, empowered, and inspired to take ownership of our cities for the Kingdom of God. As the “light of the world” (Matthew 5:14), we should be seeing direct social transformation of our cities as a result of our service, compassion, and generosity. Kris exhorted us to identify problems that we see in our communities and to take action, as modern-day Josephs and Esthers advocating for the Kingdom. Let’s commit to bring transformation outside of the church, as we receive God’s heart for the world around us.

Kris also spoke about the Great Commission mandate we have to disciple the nations. We are called to not only make disciples in nations, but of nations. Jesus gave us the authority to see massive transformation of entire cultures and societies, to influence all nations with the Truth and the light of Christ. Kris’ message resonated with my own experience in China, where Christianity has influenced societal perspectives and resulted in greater openness to the Gospel. Jesus gave us authority to influence kings, leaders, and rulers; to bring not only revival, but also reformation. As Kris said, we are called to believe the miraculous is possible not only for healing and salvation, but also for the transformation of society!

final word

We could not put on the internationally recognized and impacting conferences we do without the help of so many people: staff, volunteers, leaders in the Body, and conference attendees. Through the generosity, participation, and presence of attendees, we are able to host an incredible event during which many encounter the presence of God, receive life-changing words of promise, and find purpose, encouragement, and hope. For those of you who participated and who were generous in your time and resources, thank you for planting a seed that will bear fruit for the Kingdom!
