Enter His gates with a song of thanksgiving
And His courts with praise.
Be thankful to Him, bless and praise His name.”   – Psalm 100:4

Offering a Sacrifice of Praise

There are times in our life when offering a word of gratitude in the midst of a problem we are facing is difficult. The problem seems so much bigger than us, and it is hard to find words to give thanks about any part of it. But here’s the key – giving thanks is not based on our circumstances, it is based on the character and the love of God.

Gratitude is a choice, and often it can be a sacrifice. In the midst of our circumstance we learn to focus on God and not the problem since the source of our joy comes from His presence. The sacrifice in our praise comes when we lay down our pride and independence to ask for God’s help and intervention, to humble ourselves and acknowledge our need. As we give this precious offering, we open the realm of heavenly possibility and invite God to invade our circumstances through our praise.

For any place in your life where you feel you can see the problem bigger than you can see God, let me encourage you to take that issue before the throne of God, and worship Him in the midst of it. Set the eyes of your heart on Him, and choose to magnify Him and give thanks for His overwhelming love and grace for you. Below is a prayer of declaration to get you started on your path to sacrificial praise.

Declaration of Thanksgiving

Lord, with all of our heart, we offer a sacrifice of praise.
We acknowledge that you are with us, and that you never forsake us, no matter the problems we face.
You are the source of all life, and You are the fullness of our joy.
Thank You for providing in every situation. Whether your provision is easily visible, or it is hidden, we choose to trust your love for us.
We declare that you are working in all things for our good, using our circumstances to transform us for a greater purpose.
We invite you to invade our heart.
We invite you to invade our circumstances.
We choose to rejoice always; to pray without ceasing,
And in all things to give thanks; for this is your will for us in Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
Amen!
