The Body of Christ is in a season of revival, shifting and transformation. We are in the midst of convergence: our identities as the salt of the earth and light of the world are emerging forth as we shift priorities and perspectives and take hold of what Christ has paid for on the cross.

This past week at the annual Global Summit Conference in Pasadena, California, we gathered together with movers and shakers from around the world, apostolic men and women who are transforming the nations by advancing the Kingdom of God. Many of these men and women are close friends of mine and members of our apostolic network, Harvest International Ministry (HIM), and I was spurred on by their teaching and testimony on the power of God to change the world. There are several personal highlights from the conference – but what sparked me the most, and what I want to share with you, is how I believe the Lord is giving us divine strategy for our days and times.

Reformation of Society through Kingdom Values

Most of you are aware that the Body of Christ has been contending for revival, including here in Los Angeles. But a revival of the Holy Spirit and mass salvation must result in reformation of cultural values and social systems in order to make a lasting impact. The idea of reformation of society as the responsibility of the Body of Christ was a recurring theme throughout Global Summit, as speakers encouraged us to have greater vision to see our world transformed through our love for Christ and for one another.

Be the Salt and Light: Modeling the Kingdom

The problems that we see in society, including poverty, oppression, racism, terrorism, and war, do not exist in heaven. Reformation of society includes the eradication of these issues because the essence of reformation is the advancement of Kingdom values. Jesus told us to pray for the will of God this way:

“Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven” (Matt 6-9:13).

As Rabbi Jason Sobel encouraged us in his session, this is not a “futuristic prayer” but a prayer for the manifestation of heaven on earth for today. Rabbi Sobel asked us to examine ourselves and reflect on how much our lives reflect the compassion, mercy and unity of Jesus. We are meant to give the world an insight into what the Kingdom of God looks like: love for each other, mutual service and unconditional forgiveness.

Unity will Bring in the Harvest

Over the past few months, I have taught frequently on the importance of unity to bringing in the billion-soul harvest. Throughout the week, different leaders taught on this key value that Jesus spoke about in John 17. Jesus prayed for His disciples to have oneness so that the world would know that He is sent from God, showing His followers then and now that we must commit to love one another and join in purpose in order to see God glorified (John 17:23). Rabbi Sobel said,

“Genuine love and authentic unity are the two most persuasive and compelling testimonies to the Gospel and the prerequisite to the Great Commission revival that is coming”.

As we contend for revival across denominational and organizational lines, we must join together to see people saved, discipled and rooted firmly in Christ. Rabbi Sobel used the example of nets to demonstrate how different leaders, churches and organizations can come together to create a net large enough and strong enough to bring in this massive catch. Unity is one of our first priorities in HIM, and we are seeing the fruit of that partnership both locally and internationally.

Typically we speak of unity within the Body of Christ, but both Rabbi Sobel and Jamie Centeno offered us deeper insights into the larger picture of unity shown to us in Word of God. Rabbi Sobel taught us about the fruitfulness and harvest that will result from partnership between Jew and Gentile, and Jamie Centeno spoke about a spirit of cooperation between the generations along the lines of Malachi 4:6, which promises the hearts of the fathers turning back to their children and the hearts of the children turning back to their fathers.

Revival and Reformation Start in Powerful and Strategic Prayer

My faith was stirred throughout the week to see the redemptive promises of God fulfilled in this generation. We can speak about transformation and believe for change, but we must learn how to bind and loose in prayer in order to see anything happen. We had the honor of learning from both Robert Henderson and Lou Engle on how to pray strategically and effectively.

Appealing to the Courts of Heaven

Robert Henderson taught on appealing to the courts of heaven when we are contending with the schemes of Satan. When we approach God as the righteous judge and appeal for justice in the nations, we will see Him render verdicts on our behalf against our adversary.

Fasting is a Powerful Tool

I have walked in covenant with Lou Engle as friends, family and ministers together for over 30 years now, and I can attest to the fact that HIM and HRock church were birthed in contending in prayer with this man. Lou’s message delivered the powerful truth that fasting is key to seeing change. He highlighted the fact that in many situations, we want to make apostolic decrees concerning a people or situation but we have not gained the authority through prayer and fasting. Lou said,

“Before the original Jesus movement, there was the Jesus fast”.

If we want to see a Jesus movement that will impact the nations, we must be willing to prioritize sacrificial prayer, and follow the model of our Lord and Savior.

Envisioned and Empowered to Change the World

This year’s Global Summit marked a moment of great unity and encouragement during the Kairos season of God that the Body of Christ is in. The conference was both deeply inspirational and practical, and provided fresh perspectives and new insights. I believe all who attended or watched online have been impacted to walk forth in greater power and faith to see the will of God accomplished and their destinies fulfilled. This was a profoundly rich time and I will be sharing more on how we can all impact our world.
