Into the center of your storm is where God wants to speak His peace the most…
Amidst all the holiday music, ornaments and lights, Christmas can be for some a stressful time of the year. You’ve possibly been faced with heavy traffic, long lines, financial challenges, relational challenges and traveling holdups during the end-of-the-year rush.
Not to mention what we are currently going through as a nation. A few weeks ago the reality of terrorism hit home once again, as the painful scenes we saw in Paris came right to our doorstep in San Bernardino, California. Accordingly, Disney just passed a policy that anyone going through its amusement parks must now go through a metal detector. It’s incredible that we are seeing this in our very own country.
But let me share with you the good news: The center of your storm is the exact place where God wants to speak His peace the most.
Peace to the storm
It’s at times like these that we need to remember the message the shepherds heard during the first proclamation of Christmas:
Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, ‘Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests.'” – Luke 2:13-14
I believe this declaration of “peace on earth” carries three powerful truths that Jesus offers all of us:
1. PERSONAL INNER PEACE =
FREEDOM FROM ANXIETY
Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” – Jesus (John 14:27)
2. PEACE IN YOUR RELATIONSHIPS = BEING reconciled with others
If it is possible, as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men.” – Rom. 12:18
3. PEACE WITH GOD =
BEING reconciled to God
Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.” – Rom. 5:1
In the midst of all the tempest surrounding you, Jesus the Prince of Peace says, “Peace, be still!” to your storms in life. He wants to give you peace that no one else can give—and that no one can take away.
Open your heart to the peace that Jesus so freely offers you this Christmas. I promise that you’ll be amazed as you surrender your life to Him and walk in the reality of “peace on earth”!
