He is risen! Hallelujah!

Out of all the encounters that humankind has had with God, none puts His goodness more clearly on display than the life of Jesus Christ. It is His life, sacrificial death for us and resurrection—freeing us from sin and death—that prove that God truly is good to us.

EYEWITNESSES OF HIS POWER

Every person who makes the decision to believe in Jesus steps into a firsthand experience with God’s salvation power.

This is a supernatural act of God: He cleanses us from sin, delivers us from the power of death and makes us a new creation through our faith in Jesus Christ. Rescued from darkness and plunged into heavenly light, we now begin to see ourselves and the world around us in a completely new way (see 2 Corinthians 5 & Colossians 1).

For some, this transformation is nothing short of miraculous, as they are delivered from addictions or destructive lifestyles and thus begin a new life of purpose. Their dramatic change is visible to all around them.

Yet, for too many believers, their encounter with the glory of God’s power stops there. Many are unaware that the word salvation in Greek, soteria, means not only salvation but also healing and deliverance as well.

Christ’s death and resurrection gave us healing and deliverance from oppression, along with salvation. It is all included in the gift of salvation, freely given to us by God’s grace.

“That you may know his power”

The greatest display of God’s glorious power was when Jesus Christ was crucified and brought back to life by the power of God through His Spirit. The apostle Paul refers to this in his prayer for the church in Ephesus:

I pray also that… you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and his incomparably great power for us who believe.”

What is this “incomparably great power” that he is referring to?

That power is like the working of his mighty strength, which he exerted in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms.” – Ephesians 1:17-20

God wants you to know and actively possess all—not just part—of what you have been given in Christ. And right at the center of that gift is the heavenly power that dwells within you the moment you accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.

However, according to Scripture, it takes the Spirit of wisdom and revelation to develop the awareness necessary to implement this power in our everyday lives. That is why we see Paul praying this prayer for his fellow brothers and sisters in Christ.

God never commands us to do the impossible. When Jesus commanded us to heal the sick and raise the dead, He was telling us to draw on His own resurrection power—the very power that now lives inside of us.
