Last Tuesday my beautiful wife and I celebrated our 36th year of marriage as we got to spend some quality time together in Aruba! Through the joys and struggles that have come through the years, we are thankful to the Lord for His faithfulness and for continuing to take us from glory to glory.

I love you, Sue!

Wow jam: shining light in pasadena

Back home, HRock Church recently joined local churches for a city outreach called WOW JAM!

Today, Old Town Pasadena is known as a trendy downtown area with high-end shopping and nightlife. When I first moved to the city, this was not at all the case! Old Town was a dangerous red-light district with plenty of criminal activity.

The Lord called Lou Engle and me to contend for our city! We prayed, fasted and went door to door evangelizing! It has been amazing to see the Lord move through our ministry and others over the past few decades to bring revival, reformation and transformation!

I love seeing my son, Gabe, and my daughter-in-law Monica (soon-to-be senior pastors of HRock) carry this same heart! They mobilized 200 volunteers from HRock Church for WOW JAM, and we saw 161 souls saved and many were baptized right outside of the Pasadena City Hall! Here is a blog that recaps the outreach!

five tests of an overcomer

As I shared in my blog last week, everyone has a prophetic destiny and God-given dream that we are called to walk into. But the key is you have to know how to go from your dream to your destiny.

Why is it that certain people reach their destiny while others get stuck in life? If we look at the life of Joseph, we can identify five different tests that you must overcome as you are prepared to come into your destiny.

Here are the first two:

Joseph had a dream, and when he told it to his brothers, they hated him all the more.” ~ Genesis 37:5

When he was a young man, Joseph received a prophetic dream that showed he was destined for greatness. Yet he lacked wisdom when he shared it with his family.

The truth is that if you can’t handle the vision and call on your life, you will never be able to handle the reality of the destiny. You must overcome pride by choosing humility (1 Peter 5:5-7).

When you are truly humble, you are secure in who you are. And this security will take you through the pride test every time you go to the next level of favor and responsibility.

After Joseph was sold as a slave, an Egyptian officer named Potiphar bought him. Instead of resenting Potiphar, Joseph chose humility and worked in his household:

And his master saw that the Lord was with him and that the Lord made all he did to prosper in his hand. So Joseph found favor in his sight, and served him.” ~ Genesis 39:3-4

How well you serve those who are over you is the key to overcoming this test in life. It could be a parent, a boss or a pastor—in any case, you are called to imitate Joseph, who did not work for Potiphar but for God.

And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men…” ~ Colossians 3:23

stay tuned

Next week I’ll share the remaining three points in the tests of an overcomer walking in prophetic destiny. Until then, may our Heavenly Father shine His face upon you and give you the shalom of Yeshua (Jesus)!
